Brooklyn Brothers presents shopdropping by TrustoCorp

I still think shopdropping as a concept is large enough to jump OUT of grocery stores and into other locations. However, But it seems that more and more artists are filing into the grocery aisles. Nonetheless, the folks over at TrustoCorp & Brooklyn Brothers Gallery seem to being a nice job with it.

Ryan McGinness interview @ bigthink.com

At the 22:40 mark, in response to the question “How did you market yourself in the early days?,” Ryan discusses a shopdropping-like “situationist” project he created to reproduce his own works alongside the works of artists he admired.

FCKD Mag #5 (redux)

So the numbering of these things got all sorts of messed up. I counted #5 twice! Moving forward the image below will be #5b, and the “Tate Magazine/Print is Dead” will be #5a.  Damn it.

Jason Eric Kay poll at hubdub.com

Apparently, most of the people who’ve voted at hubdub.com think that Jason Eric Kay (aka the Tiger Woods Vs. Gatorade shopdropper) will not face any prison time.  I hope not, but I wonder what type of fines he’ll receive.  He faces three counts of product tampering (and apparently a public consensus of at least one count of ‘criminally stupid’ — I obviously disagree with the contempt for Kay’s initial intervention, but worry that his actions were so obviously telegraphed. Was he hoping to get caught for the publicity?)

Time for more research into ‘product tampering’ as it pertains to non-food items, as well as the laws for other countries.
