Updates to the site layout and structure in the past few days. Changes include the addition of an extensive images section and the resizing of the site to fit the 980 960 pixel standard. It can take along time to go back and update ALL of your old work to bring it up to speed with your new skills and knowledge. As of now, the shopdropping.net site should be completely iPhone/iPad compatible and mostly mobile compatible as well. Still need to adjust some things for older mobile browsers and there are still some old posts in the blog with Flash-based image galleries.

Updated the homepage gallery with a JQuery plugin that calls photos from a Picasa account. In other words, I can upload photos to Picasa and they automatically show up on the homepage. I’ve also set it up so I can post photos directly to the blog from the Wordpress mobile app. Photos taken in stores at the time of the drop can be geotagged, uploaded to Wordpress and Picasa, and visible on the blog and homepage now within minutes – and without most of the hassle of updating the site the old way using the XML-based Flash gallery I set up. Easy as pie. (Maybe Steve Jobs has a point?)

FCKD Mag #9 (an altered Aperture) is a direct reference and homage to a photograph taken by my old friend Tod Seelie.

Do you ever notice an oversight so apparent, so unbelievably obvious it is almost embarrassing to correct?
Shopdrop: To covertly place merchandise objects on display in a store. A form of “culture jamming” s. reverse shoplift, droplift*
* “Merchandise” are products of commerce; because shopdropping is capable of being explicitly opposed to commercial aims the change to the more neutral “objects” is self evident and overdue. (RWH – April 14, 2010)
